Rock Jumpers on the Cap
One, Two, Three, JUMP!
If you ever wander down to the Baie des Milliardaires in Cap d’Antibes then you are bound to see the many rock jumpers who congregate there throughout the summer. People of all ages come here to throw themselves off the rocks, something I could never do. Towards late afternoon there are often so many of them clambering up the rock faces that they look like a procession of ants. Mostly made up of teenage boys, there are also girls who jump. Sometimes even young children are brave enough to leap from the rocks, encouraged by their parents.
Over the last few weeks I have been popping down to take pictures of some of the people who are brave enough to jump. The last time I was there I decided to Paddle board out to one of the many boats anchored up in the bay. I wanted to ask if I could pop on board to get a photo from a differnt angle. The guy on the first boat I approached very kindy said yes. From there I was able to take some photos from in front of the rocks. It looked so cool with all the jumpers scattered acrosss the tops.
Wierdly later on that afternoon, when I was back on the beach, I saw 6 of the boys who had been jumping swim back to a boat. It was the same boat which I had been on earlier. Aren’t people strange. The guy on the boat had said nothing at all about knowing any of the jumpers. Such a shame as I could have shared my pictures with him.
